Blog 010 | Duncan's April Round Up

Let’s face it April 2021 won’t be a month that us anglers will remember with fond thoughts and the old saying April showers has been replaced with April frosts as not only was it the coldest on record but every day, somewhere in the UK there was a frost!

Decoy’s medium tackle box full of exciting new products being tested.

My month didn’t get off to a bad start with a specimen crucian and my thoughts soon switched to catfish. The popped-up worms seem to be doing the business, and still are but all I will remember is the one that had me on my knees, rod clamped tightly between my legs and a clutch screaming and rod at full curve! Fortunately all the Decoy components that I was testing out stood up but unfortunately it was a hook pull that cost me such a big fish, just one of those things! Quite a few cats did come my way but no monsters with the biggest not quite a twenty but great fun when targeting anything else was difficult.

Happy customers...

Towards the end of the month it was time to look after my customers and luckily they all caught with big tench, crucians and bream keeping them happy and simply getting out myself with office work stacking up became problematic.

A netful of big eels.

I did manage a couple of trips, both of which I’m trying to keep somewhat quiet as to not drag too much attention my way. One was a successful eel trip (had another since) which saw numerous to just over 5lb grace my net, the other was a trip to the new venue which produced a couple of tench, nothing massive but a bite on this lake so early on is a result.

New venue, new challenge, first tench.

Looking forward to May and hopefully more time on the bank myself and the office workload well dented.

Be lucky,
